Frank Myers Auto Presents: "Beat The Dealer" - May 2010

A: "Even though it's a great question, there aren't many tricks that I can share with you. There is, however, something that many consumers don't know but can take advantage of. Many consumers do not realize that states often offer a tax credit when they trade in vehicle. For example, if you purchased a $10,000 vehicle in a state with a 6% sales tax and you did NOT have a trade-in, the sales tax would be $600 ($10,000 x 6%).
If the state allowed for a tax credit for trade-in's AND you traded in a used vehicle worth $5,000 against this $10,000 vehicle, your tax liability would be calculated like this:
$10,000 Price of new vehicle
- $5,000 Value of trade-in
= $5,000 Price used to calculate sales tax
The 6% tax would then be calculated on the $5,000 and NOT the full $10,000! This means you would pay $300 in tax instead of paying $600. A savings for you of 50%!
It's particularly important to consider the sales tax credit if you are thinking of selling your car privately. In the above example, you would have had to sell your vehicle for more money just to "break even." If you factor in the expense of advertising the vehicle and the value of your own time, your break even point becomes even higher. The lesson to be learned? Don't lose money by selling it yourself. By trading the vehicle in, you can avoid the hassle of selling it yourself AND you could pay less tax… a real "win-win" situation if ever there was one!
Wondering what YOUR trade-in is really worth? Check out our 100% FREE online trade evaluation! As always, you have nothing to lose and lots to gain!

Frank Myers Auto Maxx, one of the premier used car dealerships in the nation, has teamed up with DealerRater.com, the nation’s premier car dealer review web site. The DealerRater.com Certified Dealership Program is a car dealer partnership program. Dealerships that qualify for this program must be in good standing with DealerRater.com and must be committed to quality customer service. Certified Dealers have the opportunity to actively engage DealerRater.com reviews and potential customers. DealerRater.com visitors can feel confident in knowing that a Certified Dealer is dedicated to providing a high level of customer attention and in the event of a disappointing experience, will work with the reviewer to rectify the situation.
On November 12, 2009, DealerRater.com entered its eighth year of business. Dealer reviews posted on the site increased 36.5% over last in the same time period. Registered users have also increased by 20%.
As to why the site has experienced significant increases in both reviews and register users over the past year, Chip Grueter president of DealerRater.com states that, “Customers are now logging onto third party review Web sites, like DealerRater.com, to publicly share their experience or to research prospective dealerships. In the past, customers have relied on friends and family to share information about dealerships. DealerRater.com provides trustworthy information to fill these gaps and give customers more confidence when they walk into a dealership for a sale or service transaction.”

We feel that DealerRater.com will soon become one of the primary information sources for car buying consumers. Register At Frank Myers Auto To Win A 2009 Ford Fusion
Winston Salem, NC - “This is Tracy Myers, and I want you to have a free car." Those are the words that Myers wrote on a piece of paper when he heard that the current unemployment rate was at a staggering 10%. He knew that he could use his resources to help the hard working folks that needed transportation.
The Winston-Salem, NC used car dealer is the owner of Frank Myers Auto Maxx and, little did he know, he had written the first words of his latest television commercial.
Myers, whose father is a partner with the sponsor of the car giveaway (Carolina Pride Car Wash), decided to offer an easy way for the community to register for the free 2009 Ford Fusion. "I sincerely want folks to come in and register for this 2009 Fusion," Tracy said. “In return, I can assure them that they won’t be pressured in any way possible. We’ll make this quick and easy…PLUS they don’t have to buy anything to register!”
Thousands of people are expected to take Myers up on his invitation, and on December 10th of 2009, someone will win the used-car giveaway. Myers helped promote the car giveaway by running one of the famously quirky television commercials. After the first tv commercial aired, the dealership received more than 300 phone calls. By the time the second commercial aired, the dealership had already received close to 700 calls.
Myers continued by saying, “We’re takinging entries up until November the 30th at 4200 North Patterson Avenue in Winston-Salem, NC and the big drawing will be held on December 10, 2009. “ For official rules, visit: http://www.cpsweepstakes.com/.

Graduation in Winston-Salem Turns Into A Celebration For Frank Myers Auto Maxx

Hey! Uncle Frank here from Frank Myers Auto Maxx, a used car dealership in Winston-Salem, NC. And YES, before you ask...there really is an Uncle Frank.
Just wanted to take a minute to show you the picture above. It's a picture of a nice young lady and her family. She was graduating college and wanted her favorite song represented. What was her favorite song?
Purple Rain? NO!
Whoomp, There It Is? NO!
Another One Bites The Dust? NO!
Her favorite song was MY theme song...EVERYBODY RIDES!
So this young lady (who, I must say, has an impeccable taste in music) decided to decorate her hat with the words EVERYBODY RIDES! And just for good measure, her really cool family also brought along an EVERYBODY RIDES sign. PLUS they took the picture and brought me a copy.
So if you want to know why she loves my song so much, click HERE and enjoy.

VW Wolfsburg Edition Is Back At Winston-Salem, NC Used Car Dealership
Back in February of 2008, a Winston-Salem used car dealer got very excited about the announcement from Volkswagen of America that the Wolfsburg Edition Jetta 2.0T Volkswagen would be returning to production. That dealer was Tracy Myers, owner of Frank Myers Auto Maxx, who vividly recalls the day when the original Wolfsburg editions were figuratively flying off the lot. “The good ole’ days were when we couldn’t keep a Wolfsburg Edition VW here for more than a day at a time. They were hot little cars and I’m excited about offering them to my customers again.”
Staying true to the Wolfsburg Edition heritage, the Wolfsburg Jetta 2.0T will offer customers a value priced version of the sporty and spacious Jetta sedan, equipped with the highly acclaimed four-cylinder turbo-charged engine that produces 200 horsepower and 207 ft-lbs. of torque. Each special edition Jetta 2.0T includes unique "Wolfsburg Edition" badging on both front quarter panels. The Wolfsburg Edition Jetta 2.0T features 17-inch alloy wheels, leatherette seats, and is available in the following color schemes; Reflex Silver, Black, Salsa Red, and Platinum Gray.
Like the rest of the Jetta model line, the Wolfsburg Edition comes standard with many safety features. Content that includes: six standard airbags, a crash optimized front end, and anti-intrusion side door beams. For additional safety, two rear side airbags are also available as an option. The Wolfsburg Edition Jetta 2.0T also comes with an array of vehicle control safety features. These features include a four-wheel ABS anti-lock braking system, Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution, Hydraulic
Brake Assist, Electronic Stabilization Program, and Anti-Slip Regulation. The Wolfsburg Edition Jetta 2.0T also comes standard with an electro-mechanical power steering system for added control.
The new Wolfsburg Edition Jetta 2.0T is value priced at $20,875 with a six-speed manual transmission, and $21,950 with an optional six-speed DSG automatic transmission. Of course, the pre-owned Jetta’s at Frank Myers Auto Maxx will be priced considerably lower.

2009 Nissan Maxima at Winston-Salem Used Car Dealer Recaptures Its Place as Premium Performance Sedan

The 2009 Nissan Maxima marks a return to the longtime Nissan flagship sedan’s roots as a commanding 4-door sports car – a vehicle that is unique in both appearance and driving feel, with renewed relevance for today’s active and ambitious sedan buyers. The car made its world debut at the 2008 New York International Auto Show and proved that the Maxima is back as a contender against the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry and is available at Frank Myers Auto Maxx, a Winston-Salem used car dealer.
The 2009 Maxima is offered as two well-equipped models, Maxima 3.5 S and Maxima 3.5 SV, and has already been available for purchase at Frank Myers Auto.
“Maxima has always enjoyed a certain ‘duality’ – a unique fusion of sedan practicality with the soul of a sports car,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. “In recent years, however, competitive vehicles have caught up with Maxima in ‘sporty’ looks and performance. For 2009, Nissan is reclaiming its rich 4-Door Sports Car heritage with an infusion of emotional design, driving excitement and advanced technology – creating a silky, stimulating sports sedan like no other on the road today.”
The owner of Frank Myers Auto Maxx, Tracy Myers, added “the Maxima has always sold well for us and our customers have always seemed to like them as good if not better than a used Toyota or a used Honda. And right now, with interest rates at a historic all-time low, there has never been a better time to finance a car and get a great monthly payment.”
2009 Maxima: Reborn at the “Ring”
“Do-overs” are sometimes allowed in sports but rarely in the automotive industry. Yet midway through the development of the new-generation Maxima a mulligan was indeed granted. Rather than continue with an evolution of the previous highly successful Maxima design, the creators of the 2009 Maxima stopped and rethought the entire direction.
Inspired by the concurrent top secret development of the 2009 Nissan GT-R supercar, they threw away positioning words like “conservative” and “balanced” and concentrated instead on new concepts like “addictive performance,” “striking,” “commanding” and “powerful.”
High targets were established, including the goal of creating “the best performing front engine, front-wheel drive car in the world,” along with class-leading acceleration, braking, handling, workmanship and cockpit design.
“We aren’t walking away from the strengths of the last generation Maxima, which was rated the top-ranked vehicle in AutoPacific’s 2007 Vehicle Satisfaction Award for Luxury Mid-Size Cars and a winner of Strategic Vision’s 2007 Total Quality Award for Best Medium Car Ownership Experience,” said Castignetti. “However, complacency breeds complacent vehicles. The new Maxima demanded taking risks in order to ultimately come up with a much more exciting and rewarding vehicle.”
Three key areas were singled out for change: exterior design, which needed to be more aggressive, with more personality and attitude; a “super” cockpit, creating an interior that combines a driver orientation with high quality, roominess and user-friendly technology; and class-leading performance, enhancing what previous generation owners called “Maxima-ness.”
To further push the performance envelope, the development team challenged themselves to concentrate their efforts on “emotional engineering” – to experience Maxima with the five senses in a purer, more visceral manner, rather than through CAD drawings and computer simulations.
As each designer and engineer set and exceeded higher and higher targets, they realized that confirmation of the results would require validation on the road. But not just any road. Members of the development team traveled to Germany’s famed Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit – not coincidentally the site of much of the GT-R’s performance development work – to test Maxima prototypes. Special attention was placed on body rigidity, suspension and steering, along with honing Maxima’s competitiveness against some well-established European sports sedans.
“A number of product changes came directly from the Nürburgring trials, including enhancements to the braking and transmission systems,” said Castignetti. “But more importantly, it gave notice to the entire Nissan organization that the new Maxima is back solidly in the performance arena where it rightfully belongs.”
Aggressive Design Adds a “Wow” Factor to the Sedan Category
While seeking to create a simple-yet-strong presence, the designers of the new Maxima’s exterior also wanted to re-assert Maxima’s breakthrough personality – establishing a “wow” level of style that would clearly distinguish it from segment competitors.
The exterior design theme for the new Maxima is “Liquid Motion” – focusing on the flow of its powerful and beautiful surfaces, like the undulation of a wave. The look starts with Maxima’s aggressive stance and powerful fender volume, which is not unlike many exotic sports cars on the market today. This deeply sculpted body/fender treatment is seldom used for mass market vehicles because of the engineering and manufacturing complexity required to physically accomplish it. Maxima’s new stance is created by a slight reduction in wheelbase and overall length, along with a wider front and rear track.
Maxima’s new look imparts a strong, premium presence. The large, wraparound L-shaped headlights add a unique dimension to the overall design, while the light surrounds suggest a powerful “turbine” appearance of energy and strength. The upturned headlight shape combines with a wide grille, large bumper opening and bulging “catamaran-style” hood to give Maxima a formidable expression, setting the tone for the rest of the vehicle.
The powerful Maxima form continues along its profile, with careful layering of the bumper, hood and fender parting lines. The polished, elegant motion spreads from the deep-waisted rear fenders through distinctive Maxima-style C-pillars and high trunk lid.
Dimensionally, versus the previous generation, the new Maxima measures the same width at the doors but wider at each fender, which not only helps project a sporty appearance but also allows a reduction in the visual gap between the fenders and wheels and tires. Maxima’s dynamic performance stance is accented by 18-inch and available 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with low-profile performance tires.
Another new styling feature is the available Dual Panel Moonroof, which is traditionally offered only in luxury segments. The Dual Panel Moonroof includes a front section that moves like a normal moonroof (positioned farther forward than typical), with a very wide opening to provide an open-air motoring feeling. There is also a fixed translucent rear section that provides light to rear seat passengers. The overall design gives the appearance that the entire roof is composed of black glass. The Dual Panel Moonroof includes dual power sunshades for both the front and rear glass sections, adding a level of convenience.
At the rear, Maxima features a new 12-LED L-shaped taillight design, with a pair of side marker bulbs for added visibility during night driving.
“Maxima’s breathtaking new exterior gives it a commanding, almost coupe-like appearance, with plenty of driveway appeal,” said Castignetti. “It’s one sedan that will definitely be noticed by the next door neighbors, along with a lot of other people.”
Leading-Edge Sports Sedan Performance Platform
For five previous generations, Maxima has been built on a front-wheel drive (FWD) platform. Yet with the new Maxima’s development team everything was open for discussion, including the benefits of front-wheel drive versus rear-wheel drive (RWD). Although there are well-known advantages of RWD in terms of sporty handling, it was ultimately decided that by switching Maxima from its previous platform to Nissan’s new “D platform,” which was first introduced on the current Nissan Altima Sedan, Hybrid and Coupe, the target Maxima performance could be delivered – without giving up the added FWD benefits of lower costs, lower weight and enhanced roominess versus a RWD platform.
“As demonstrated time and again with the new Altima, the new Nissan D platform is an amazing piece of engineering – providing responsive handling while virtually eliminating the torque steer often associated with high horsepower FWD applications,” said Castignetti. “For the new Maxima, we’ve continued to refine the D platform, creating what we believe is one of the best-performing front-wheel drive car in the world, far above other FWD vehicles in its class. It’s a level of performance that we think will be highly addictive.”
In creating driving performance worthy of Nissan’s flagship, the Maxima’s body and chassis engineering teams worked together to create a secure feeling, virtually no torque steer during acceleration and a level of nimbleness that ultimately makes a car fun to drive.

For 2009, Optima also is larger than its predecessors, which complements its distinctive new styling and separates itself from other vehicles in the growing midsize segment.
"With the Optima, Kia is changing the way consumers think about midsize sedans. This is the vehicle that could easily beat the Toyota Camry, the Honda Accord or the Nissan Altima," said Tracy Myers, owner of Frank Myers Auto Maxx. "Already known for its exemplary quality, safety and value, Optima's design provides consumers with a sporty, fuel-efficient choice and showcases Kia's commitment to providing the best all-around vehicle package. On our end, we are excited to be able to provide our clients the opportunity to finance the Optima with rates starting as low as 4.9% APR." Winston-Salem, NC Used Car Dealer Reacts to Closing of Saturn, GM Stunned
Vows to continue selling and servicing SaturnsWINSTON SALEM, NC - The last-minute collapse of a deal for the Saturn brand between General Motors Co. and Roger Penske dooms about 350 dealers, 13,000 employees and a brand created as a counterpunch to Japanese compact carmakers. It also puts current Saturn owners in a bind because they won’t have a local Saturn dealership that can service their vehicle.
Penske terminated a deal Wednesday to buy the castoff brand after his prospective provider of new vehicles pulled out. The sudden collapse stunned dealers, since there had been no whisper of problems that have complicated the sale of GM's other brands such as German carmaker Adam Opel GmbH and Hummer.
"This doesn’t shock me at all," said Tracy Myers, who owns Frank Myers Auto Maxx in Winston-Salem, who never expected the Penske/Saturn deal to be completed. "Those poor Saturn dealers have been hanging in there literally eight to 10 months, waiting for some positive news, and now it's not happening. The people that will really be hurt by this bad news (other then the Saturn employees and dealers) are the consumers that are driving a Saturn. However, I want them to know that our service department (at Frank Myers Auto) will continue to service ALL Saturns.”
The deal's collapse is the latest setback for a brand launched in 1990 as a "different kind of car company" focused on customer service, compact cars and no-haggle pricing. The new brand also came with a revolutionary and more flexible labor agreement with the United Auto Workers.
Saturn won design and engineering awards for new products after the breakthrough of the 1991Saturn SL1. “Saturn made a great product and my North Carolina used car dealerships have many happy customers with a Saturn in their driveway,” said Myers. “My goal is to reassure the Saturn fans in the Triad that Frank Myers Auto will continue to sell and service pre-owned Saturns as long as there is a demand for us to do so.”
Myers invites all Saturn owners to the Frank Myers Auto Service Department for a $17.95 oil change and a FREE car wash. Call (336) 831-0656 Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 5:30. For more info on Frank Myers Auto, visit their website at http://www.frankmyersauto.com

Ric Flair Wanted For Award Ceremony By Winston-Salem, NC Used Car Dealer
“The Nature Boy is a limo ridin', jet flyin', kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin' son of a gun…and he has provided so many folks in the Triad a lifetime of happiness. That’s why I thought it would be appropriate to present Mr. Flair with a Lifetime Achievement Award right here in Winston-Salem,” said Myers, owner of Frank Myers Auto Maxx.
The North Carolina Education Lottery recently unveiled a new scratch-off ticket featuring pro wrestler Ric Flair. “The Nature Boy” will be signing autographs promoting the new scratch-off ticket a few miles from Myers’ car dealership at the Dixie Classic Fair in Winston-Salem, NC Saturday, October 10, 2009.
The new game featuring "The Nature Boy" was available beginning September 22 at lottery retail locations statewide. "Wooooooo!" is a $5 scratch-off ticket. The game features eight top prizes of $100,000 and over 500,000 prizes between $10 and $200. Players have 16 chances to win on each ticket, which corresponds with Flair's 16 championship belts.
“I simply hope that someone can get the message to Mr. Flair that we only want 10 minutes of his valuable time. I only think it’s appropriate that we give something back to the man that has given us so much.”

How To LEGALLY Buy A Car Using Someone Else's Money - Part 2
Author's Note: This is the second part of a three part article.Suggestion 4: Use a credit card.
Credit card debt is scary stuff, but most people get into trouble because they don't know how to use their card properly. There are plenty of ways to safely use your credit card to make a down payment without getting yourself into trouble down the line.
Get a credit card with a low interest rate or no interest rate for the first year. If you know you can pay off your debt within the first six months to a year, there are many credit cards that offer no APR or a very low one for those time periods. You won't pay a cent of interest!
Budget your income to pay off your credit card. If your plan is to use a card and pay no interest, you're going to have to budget to pay off that card in time. People get into trouble when the interest rates go up at the end of the year. Be the one smart person who budgets properly and you'll outsmart the credit card company at its own game.
Only use that credit card for car payments. If you open a credit card for a car payments, chances are you'll be tempted to use it for other things. Don't give in to that temptation! Your budget for paying off the credit card will be blown, and the temporary comfort of having money will soon be offset by high interest rates. Use it for car payments only.
Be careful when using credit cards! There are plenty of ways to use them well, but many people make mistakes. We want you to borrow money without having to suffer any consequences, so budget your payments and keep your APR low.
Suggestion 5: Get rid of some extra weight.
Admit it. You've got a lot of stuff hanging around that you don't really need. Think about whether you'd rather have that old parcel of property or a new car that doesn't break down and has windows that actually work. Take a hard look through your possessions and figure out what's not pulling its weight.
Property. If you have any property of any kind, selling off even part of it can get you plenty of money for that initial down payment and then some. If it's a small parcel, go ahead and sell it if you had no plans for it. If you have a serious acreage, consider selling just a piece of it - you'll never miss it, and you'll love the new car it bought you.
Housing. You may not have a whole slew of properties to sell off for cash, but you might consider renting out or selling that gardener's shed at the back. What about the barn? The garage? If your mortgage payments have gotten to be too much for you, consider whether you'd rather have a house to upkeep or a car that gets you to and from a brand-new apartment.
Old cars. The car you're looking to replace can help you make that down payment on the new one. Sell it for blue-book price or, if it's beyond repair, sell off the individual parts. Many cars after a certain age are more valuable in pieces than all together, and car enthusiasts will buy everything down to the frame and the lug nuts if they need the parts.
Electronics. A stunning 70% of Americans keep old hardware around the house long after they've stopped using it. If you have an old computer, stereo, or television set that you've long relegated to the basement, haul it out, dust it off, and sell it. Even if it's not the latest model, it's still functioning well and it's worth money. You'd be surprised how much you can get for certain computer cables.
Antiques. Do you have any old furniture that may be of value to an antique store? We're not advocating selling family heirlooms here, but if you have an old rocking chair in the attic, an ancient-looking wagon in the barn, or a fistful of unwanted gold jewelry sitting unworn at the bottom of your jewelry box, you might be sitting on untold wealth. Ask an antique dealer to look at your pieces and assess their worth. That new car payment may have been collecting dust around the house all along.
These are just suggestions, but you can certainly look around your own house and see what's worth selling. Don't simply assess items based on whether that one thing can make the whole car payment, either: a bunch of small items added up can get you there just as easily as one single item.
This is your chance to clear out the clutter and make room for something brand new: that car you've had your eye on. You'll use a new car every single day. How often are you going to use that parcel of land? If the answer is "less than every day", we think you know which one is worth your while.
Suggestion #6: Bad credit score? Go for the hard money.
A hard money lender can help you out if your credit score is lousy. Instead of using your credit score as a gauge for whether you're loan-worthy, hard money lenders secure your loan with the value of a piece of real estate, like a parcel of land or a house.
You can usually get a fairly significant chunk of change for a hard money loan, which means you won't have to worry about having enough money to make that first down payment on a car.
You also don't have to worry about your credit score fouling up the works. If you've got some problems in your credit history, it won't keep you from getting the money you need, since your loan is guaranteed by that piece of real estate.
The down side of hard money loans is that the interest rate is often very high. That's the trade-off for getting a loan even with bad credit. You'll pay the loan back according to the agreement, and of course, if you can't pay it back, the lender has the right to possess the property you used to secure the loan in the first place.
However, all of this is only a problem if you don't budget your money. And we know you're capable of doing that. Just plan to make all your payments on time and not only will you get a car payment loan on bad credit - you'll have built up new, good credit for the future! Pretty good deal, right?
